Capri Blue makes scented candles, best known for the Volcano fragrance in glass jars. Candles are an open flame in the home, so the safety side belongs first — and it overlaps neatly with getting the most out of them.
Candle safety, plainly
Never leave a burning candle unattended, and never leave one burning in a room with children or pets who could knock it over.
Burn on a heat-resistant, stable surface, away from curtains, bedding, paper and anything that can catch. Keep clear of draughts, which make flames flare and flicker unevenly.
Trim the wick to about a quarter inch before every burn. A long wick gives a large flickering flame, soot, and a flame that can climb — this is the single most important habit and almost nobody does it.
Stop burning when about half an inch of wax remains. Below that the glass gets extremely hot, and jars can crack or shatter. That is the most common candle accident in a home.
Never move a lit candle or one with a pool of molten wax. Never use water to extinguish one — it can spatter hot wax and crack the glass.
Burn no more than about four hours at a time. Longer and the wick mushrooms, the flame grows and the jar overheats.
The first burn decides everything
Wax has memory. The first burn sets the pattern for the life of the candle.
On the first light, burn it long enough for the melt pool to reach the edges of the jar — typically two to four hours on a wide Capri Blue jar.
If you blow it out before the pool reaches the edge, the candle will tunnel — burning a narrow hole down the middle and leaving a thick ring of wax stuck to the sides. That wasted wax is often a third of what you paid for.
Tunnelling is very hard to correct once established. Getting the first burn right is free and saves more than any discount.
Scent throw
Cold throw is how it smells unlit; hot throw is how it fills a room when burning. They are not the same, and a strong cold throw does not guarantee a strong hot one.
Room size matters most. A single candle scents a small room well and a large open-plan space barely at all — that is volume, not product quality.
Let it burn long enough for a full melt pool. Scent comes off the surface of the pool, so a small pool throws far less.
Close the door. An open door to a hallway disperses the scent into the rest of the house.
Nose fatigue is real — you stop noticing a scent you sit in. Visitors will smell it when you no longer do.
Getting the most hours
Trim the wick before every single burn. Untrimmed wicks burn faster, sootier and hotter.
Keep it away from draughts. A guttering flame burns wax unevenly and wastes it.
Put the lid on when cool, if it has one. That preserves the fragrance between burns and keeps dust out of the wax.
Store somewhere cool and dark. Heat softens wax and light fades both colour and fragrance over time.
An empty jar cleans up with hot water once the last wax is removed, and Capri Blue jars are the reason many people buy them.
Choosing a Capri Blue vessel and format
Capri Blue sells the same fragrances in several vessels, and the vessel is a large part of the price. The signature jars, the iridescent glass and the decorative tins are bought as much for the room as for the scent.
If the jar will stay on display after the wax is gone, a decorative Capri Blue vessel earns its premium. If you only want the fragrance, a plainer or larger format gives more wax for the money.
Capri Blue also sells Volcano and its other scents as reed diffusers, room sprays and body care. A diffuser gives a constant low scent with no flame, which suits a bathroom, a hallway or a home with pets and children.
Volcano is the Capri Blue best seller for a reason, and it is a safe gift. For your own home, try a small size of a new Capri Blue scent before buying the large jar.
Where the Capri Blue savings are
Capri Blue discounts across a wide range of codes, with occasional deep events:
The gap between a 10% standing code and a 40% event is large. For restocking a scent you already know, waiting is straightforwardly worth it.
Larger jars give more burn hours per pound than small ones, and wax does not perish. That makes size the better lever than the code.
Several Capri Blue codes are single-use and may be spent. Test a couple at checkout.
Seasonal scents clear hard after their season, and a discontinued scent is worth buying at that point if you like it — they do not come back.
Common questions
Why is my candle tunnelling?
The first burn was too short. Always burn until the melt pool reaches the edge — two to four hours on a wide jar.
When should I stop burning it?
When about half an inch of wax is left. Below that the glass overheats and can crack.
Why can I not smell it any more?
Usually nose fatigue rather than the candle. Also check the room size and whether the door is open.
Is a Capri Blue diffuser a good alternative to a candle?
Yes, where an open flame is a worry. The scent is gentler but constant.
