Cirque du Soleil Tickets: Resident vs Touring Shows, Seat Categories and Booking Direct

Cirque du Soleil sells tickets to its acrobatic theatre shows: permanent productions in Las Vegas and a few other cities, touring big top shows under the famous tent, and arena tours. The Cirque du Soleil site sells tickets directly, along with VIP packages, gift cards and some merchandise.

Buying well means knowing which kind of show you are booking, which seats actually improve the experience, and when prices are softest.

Three kinds of Cirque du Soleil show

Resident shows run for years in purpose-built theatres, most famously in Las Vegas, where productions such as O, Mystère and KÀ have their own stages with water pools, moving platforms and rigging that touring shows cannot carry. These are the most technically ambitious Cirque du Soleil productions.

Big top shows travel under the blue-and-yellow tent and stay in a city for weeks. The tent is intimate, with most seats close to the stage, and the atmosphere is closer to a traditional circus.

Arena shows play large venues for a few days at a time. They reach more cities, but the far seats in an arena are a long way from the performers. Check which format your local Cirque du Soleil run is before comparing prices with a friend's Vegas trip.

Choosing seats

Cirque du Soleil prices seats by category, with the most central and closest sections at the top. In a big top, even the cheaper categories are reasonably close, so the middle categories are often the best value.

In resident theatres, the stage design matters. In a water show, the front rows can get splashed and the best view of patterns in the water comes from further back and higher up. Read the seating notes for the specific Cirque du Soleil theatre.

In arenas, pay for closer categories if you can. The performances are designed to be seen, and in a large venue the difference between a lower-bowl seat and an upper-level one is large.

Some Cirque du Soleil shows involve performers moving through the audience or calling up volunteers from aisle seats. If that is not for you, avoid the front rows and aisle seats.

Timing and prices

Cirque du Soleil uses variable pricing. Weekend evenings, holidays and the last week of a touring run cost the most. Weekday shows, early performances and the opening week of a big top run are usually cheaper.

For resident Las Vegas shows, prices follow the city's convention and holiday calendar. A midweek show outside major events is the easiest way to pay less.

Buy early for a specific date and seat. Buy later only if you are flexible, since good seats on busy nights sell out rather than get discounted.

Fees, VIP packages and children

Expect service and facility fees on top of the ticket price. Compare the full total on the Cirque du Soleil site with other sellers, and be wary of resale sites, where prices can be marked up well above face value.

VIP packages typically add premium seats plus extras such as a reception, drinks or a souvenir. They are worth it only if you value the extras; for the show itself, a top-category seat gives the same view.

Many Cirque du Soleil productions have a minimum age or recommend shows for older children, and some resident shows are adults-only. Check the age guidance and whether children need their own ticket before booking.

Changes, refunds and arrival

Cirque du Soleil tickets are generally non-refundable, though exchanges may be offered for a fee on some shows. Check the conditions for the specific production before paying, and consider whether the booking allows a change of date.

Arrive early. Many shows start with clowns and pre-show action in the audience, and latecomers may be held until a suitable break.

Where the Cirque du Soleil savings are

CIRQUE DU SOLEILNOW30 — 30% offSHOW COUPON CODE
CIRQUE DU SOLEILSPRINGBREAK — 20% offSHOW COUPON CODE
CIRQUE DU SOLEILWELCOME10 — 10% offSHOW COUPON CODE

The 30% code is the strongest and the one to try first. Cirque du Soleil promotional codes are usually tied to particular shows, dates or seat categories, so enter it on the performance page and see which prices change.

The spring break code suits school holiday dates, when families book. If you are travelling then, test it against the dates you want.

The 10% welcome code is the general fallback. On a family booking of four tickets it is still a worthwhile sum, and it may apply where the other Cirque du Soleil codes are restricted.

Codes usually apply to the ticket price, not to fees, and do not combine with each other or with VIP packages. Compare a coded middle-category seat with an uncoded premium seat; sometimes the code makes the better seat affordable.

Common questions

Which Cirque du Soleil show is best for a first visit?

A resident Las Vegas show if you are there; otherwise the big top, which puts everyone close to the stage.

Are Cirque du Soleil tickets refundable?

Generally not. Check the exchange terms for your show before booking.

Are cheap Cirque du Soleil seats worth it?

In a big top, usually yes. In an arena, the upper levels are far from the stage.

Do Cirque du Soleil codes cover fees?

Usually not. They reduce the ticket price only.
