LG: Appliance Measuring, Panel Types and Very Large Codes

LG sells across appliances, TVs and home electronics, and the codes reflect that — some are worth a few per cent, others over a thousand. Both the products and the codes need reading carefully.

Measure before ordering an LG appliance

This is where the expensive mistakes happen, because an appliance that does not fit cannot be quietly returned.

Measure the opening — width, height and depth — and then measure the route: doorways, hallway turns, stairwells and the kitchen door.

A fridge that fits the alcove but not the front door is a wasted delivery. Check whether the doors come off to gain clearance.

Check door swing and clearance. A fridge door needs room to open past 90 degrees to pull the drawers out, and against a wall or island that is not always possible. Hinge side matters.

Measure depth including handles and rear connections. Counter-depth and standard-depth are meaningfully different products.

For laundry, check whether the space is vented or needs a ventless dryer, and where the water and drain connections sit. Stacking needs a specific kit matched to the pair.

LG TV panel types, briefly

LG OLED panels light each pixel individually, giving true blacks and excellent contrast. Best in a dark room, and generally the better picture.

LED and QLED are backlit LCD panels. Brighter in a sunlit room, with less absolute contrast.

The honest guidance: if your room is bright, a very bright LED often looks better than an OLED. If you watch in the dark, OLED wins clearly.

Check the refresh rate and ports if you game. That matters more than resolution for most people, and port specifications vary between models that look identical.

Screen size should follow viewing distance. A screen too large for the room is uncomfortable rather than impressive.

Delivery, installation and haul-away

These are three separate things and the order needs to specify which you are getting.

Delivery may be kerbside, threshold or to the room. On a washing machine that distinction is the whole job.

Installation — connecting water, gas or venting — is frequently a separate charge, and gas connection may legally require a qualified fitter.

Haul-away of the old unit is usually extra and worth booking, because disposing of a fridge yourself is genuinely difficult.

Clear the route and empty the old appliance beforehand. Crews are usually not permitted to move furniture or disconnect gas.

Inspect for damage before signing. Damage noted at delivery is the retailer's problem; damage reported a week later becomes yours.

LG warranty and parts

Keep the model and serial number recorded somewhere other than the appliance. Every warranty claim and parts order needs them, and the sticker is usually somewhere awkward.

Register the LG product if registration extends cover.

Before buying, check parts availability and whether local independent technicians service the brand. An appliance nobody nearby will touch is one you replace rather than repair.

LG washers, dryers and the laundry decision

LG sells front-load and top-load washers. Front-loaders generally use less water and spin faster, which shortens drying time. Top-loaders are easier on the back and suit people who want to add items mid-cycle.

An LG front-loader can be stacked with a matching LG dryer using the correct kit. Check the model pairing before ordering both.

LG also sells washer-dryer combos. They save space but dry slowly and in smaller loads than a separate dryer, so they suit a flat more than a family.

Leave the door of a front-loader open between washes and clean the gasket. That is how the musty smell some owners report is avoided.

LG ThinQ and whether smart features matter

Many LG appliances and TVs connect to the LG ThinQ app for remote control, notifications and diagnostics.

A laundry-finished alert or a fridge door alarm is useful. Most other smart features are used once and forgotten, so do not pay much extra for them.

Check the ThinQ features for the exact LG model you are buying, since they vary between models and regions.

Four-figure flat amounts attach to high-value items or package deals — typically appliance bundles or premium TVs — and carry a minimum spend well above an ordinary basket.

They are not sitewide. A code that fails is almost always scoped to a category or a spend threshold rather than expired.

On a smaller purchase a percentage code will nearly always beat a flat amount you cannot reach.

Several LG codes are single-use and may already be spent. Test a couple at checkout.

Lower-value LG codes like WELCOME20 are the ones that fit an ordinary order. Always compare the code price with the current LG sale price, since the two may not combine.

Common questions

Why did my LG code not apply?

Large flat-amount codes are scoped to high-value items or bundles with a minimum spend. Check the terms.

OLED or LED?

OLED for a dark room and better contrast. A bright LED often looks better in a sunlit room.

What should I measure?

The opening, the full delivery route, and the door swing clearance — not just the alcove.

Do I need LG ThinQ?

No. LG appliances work without the app. It adds alerts and remote control.
